Late summer in St. Louis maybe one of my favorite times for an outdoor family session. The temperatures are just right and that beautiful golden fall light is starting to make it’s appearance. I was so excited to shoot this family again! It was a session filled with so much laughter and joy but it didn’t start out that way. When I met up with this family, all 3 kids were crying!
It took spending a fun morning with these boys to bring me back to my blog! In-home family sessions are where it is at for me! I will be doing a be push fo these sessions in 2020. Stay tuned for more details on that soon!
I will always love capturing the craziness that having 3 children (especially boys) under 5 brings. You can go from snuggling to wrestling in a matter of seconds. And they never stop moving, which is totally my idea of the perfect session! Ha! Unless you have had a session with me, you may not believe me when I say I love the chaos that can be a family session. Sessions that often feel super energetic and crazy, usually end up producing the best photos! I love movement, REAL emotion, and light in my images. That’s all I need to give you a gallery that will truly capture your family. So if you are hesitant to book a family session because you are worried your kids make act crazy or can’t sit still, my response would be BRING IT ON!
The mama of these babes wanted a session capturing her kids just being kids. We took the time to grab some traditional portraits at the beginning of the session. After we had those, we went to field and let the kids guide the session.
Family photographers all have a different way of approaching a family session. Finding the one that suits your family is the most important. Study their portfolio and talk with them about their shooting style. I am not the photographer for every family and I am totally ok with that! There are all kinds of family photographers out there that range from traditional to documentary , with everything in between. I find myself somewhere in the middle, with a lean towards documentary vs. traditional.
Sharing a really fun in-home lifestyle session today! When Allison contacted me for an in-home family session, I was thrilled…and slightly nervous! She is a local, super talented photographer. I love love love photographing other photographers but I am usually a giant ball of nerves leading up to the session. Yet, this sweet family made me fell right at home and it felt like I was photogprahjng my own family.
Recently I spent a morning with one of the CUTEST 1 year olds around. We had a laid back in-home family session to celebrate Rush turning 1! It was the perfect way to capture what this sweet family enjoys doing together and to capture how much Rush has grown. In-home lifestyle family sessions are not only for newborns, like a lot of people believe.
I spent a lovely morning with one of my favorite families, who happens to also be my neighbors. Elizabeth wanted a different setting for her family session vs. the typical tall grass or field, I was thrilled! I suggested doing something their family loves to do the weekend.
I am SUPER excited to share this in-home newborn session. This session is a bit different from a lot of the newborn sessions I have shot but it is a direction I would love to start moving more into with my work. This session was approached with more of a documentary style and I couldn't be more happy with how it turned out.
Celebrating the first year of life is always one of my favorite sessions, especially when I have been able to capture the family throughout the first year. I first shot sweet Brooks last fall for our first session together. He was so happy, plus Maura and Cameron were a dream to work with. It was cloudy, windy, and cold that day but they pushed through with smiles on their faces!
There are some sessions that just make your heart happy as an artist, this session is that one for me. If you have been following me for any amount of time, then you know I love moments and emotion over perfection. I want my images to make you feel something!
I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was to be able to shoot this family again. Last fall, we shot Otto's newborn session and it is still one of my favorite sessions. Nicole is so stylish, uber talented (check out my amazing logo from her), and one of the SWEETEST people you will ever meet. Her family is the exact same way and they all have such love for the baby of the family.
Meet the cutest family around, The Richardson Family! This sunset family session is one of my favorites to date. Kayla is a local photographer, so when she contacted me I was over the moon excited and honestly a little terrified! I think shooting another photographer is the biggest honor but also usually makes me the most nervous at the beginning.
I'm not sure how but I really have the most STUNNING clients ever! One of my favorite ages to shoot is around 6 months. They have just started sitting up and are usually all smiles. I loved all the faces this little guy made during our session. Of course, he had the biggest smiles when looking mom or dad!
The spring colors have been late to make their appearance in the St. Louis area. Everyone has been craving the warm sunshine on their skin, beautifully bloomed flowers, and green grass. This session had all of that and the most ADORABLE kiddos you will ever see. This is my second time shooting this family and both times have been so much fun. I have known Nicki since we were both much younger and living our lives child free.
I've been excited to share this sunset maternity session since we shot it. You may remember this adorable family from their in-home lifestyle session I shot this past winter. Felise is the owner of Felise Photography and one of the great friends that I have made on this photography journey. I was over the moon thrilled to shoot her maternity session.
