The best thing about lifestyle newborn sessions is you have more flexibility with the timing of your session. This baby boy was 7 weeks old for his newborn session. My main goal when shooting these sessions, is to capture your family as they are. That may mean a sleeping baby, an awake baby, or even both! We don't spend hours trying to get your baby sleep. If all they want to do is be held, we hold them. If they want to eat, we feed them. It's pretty simple! I was able to capture this sweet baby boy's fresh 48 the day after he was born so it was amazing to how much he had grown over the past few weeks. I love how simple and sweet this session was! This family is in the middle of a big move and you wouldn't even know it. I always say all you need is a some light, a baby and their parents to make a great session.
I am SUPER excited to share this in-home newborn session. This session is a bit different from a lot of the newborn sessions I have shot but it is a direction I would love to start moving more into with my work. This session was approached with more of a documentary style and I couldn't be more happy with how it turned out. I spent the morning with this family and let them spend their time doing normal stuff. They made pancakes, played games and snuggled on their new baby, with very little direction from me. It was exactly how I picture everyday life to be and I loved every moment.
In-home sessions give families such a unique opportunity to truly be themselves. Your wardrobe and house do not need to look like a magazine cover to make images you will love. You just need the people you love, doing what you love to do. I'm happy this family took this opportunity to be themselves and allowed me to be there to capture all of these moments for them.
It has been a month or so since I have shot an in-home lifestyle newborn session. I forgot how much I missed them! This all boy session was a great way to get back into my newborn groove. There is something I love about all boy families. Yes, it is always chaotic and a little rough during our sessions but they are usually the first ones to cuddle up to the new sibling or mom. That is exactly what happened with this session, lots of sweet little moments and then lots of laughter. It was perfect!!
I think by now everyone knows my passion for shooting fresh 48s. They are hands down my favorite sessions. There is something about those first few days that you just can't capture during an in-home newborn session. I also think those are the moments and feelings that are hard to remember as a parent, especially a first time parent. It is such a whirlwind of emotion squeezed into a short period of time that you feel sort of high yet so exhausted at the same time. I personally have never had a fresh 48 for any of my own babies and now that I shoot them, I deeply regret it. I know with this last baby that I need to hand over reigns to a professional to capture these moments for me so I can be in the moment with my last sweet baby.
Lifestyle newborn sessions are some of my favorites. Although, they are just as unpredictable as an outdoor family session, I personally love the real emotion that these sessions have. I shot this lovely family for an in-home this winter. I love when I get to meet clients prior to their newborn session. It makes the process so much more relaxed for everyone. We spent most of our session laughing and talking about the struggles of parenting. The list was long! Ha! Thank you for allowing me capture these important moments in your life, Andrea and Chris. I adored working with you both!
I spent a lovely Saturday morning with this new family of five. This lifestyle newborn session really represents why I love shooting this type of photography. When I arrived, the family was still getting everything together to get the session started. I took a quick tour of their adorable home to check out the lighting and such. There were so many cute little spots throughout their home that I simply loved.
